Layout Category
A hundred-line quotation the customer can actually read.
Long quotations and invoices are hard to read as one flat list. Layout Category groups the lines into named sections — „Material“, „Assembly“, „Additional costs“ — and numbers them consecutively. The structure survives the step from order to invoice, so it is built once and not twice, and it is available to the print templates, including those of the FastReport modules.
The help for this module is findable — for people and for AI
One help page in German and English, shipped inside the module. With Help Docs installed you search them in full text — and an AI assistant reads the same content through a machine-readable module card.
"eq_layout_category")
Full-text search and module card come from Help Docs (eq_helper). This module ships the content — no extra configuration.
Features
Named sections with a fixed order
Sections are defined once, named and put in sequence; from then on each line is assigned to one of them. Because every quotation follows the same scheme, a customer comparing two offers can put them side by side.
Consecutive line numbers
Every line carries a number that can be printed on the document. A query on the phone becomes „position 12“ instead of a read-out of the article description.
The structure survives into the invoice
When an invoice is created from an order, section assignment and sequence come along. What was structured in sales does not have to be structured again in accounting.
Available to the print templates
The section information is exposed to the document templates, which is what makes subtotals per section possible. The FastReport modules build on exactly this — which is also why the module exists in this form.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need this for the FastReport modules?
Yes — the FastReport document templates read the section information this module provides. Without it, section-based layouts and per-section subtotals are not available.
What happens to existing orders after installation?
Nothing. Existing documents keep their lines unchanged and simply have no section assigned. You start using sections on the next quotation.
Which Odoo editions are supported?
The module runs on Odoo Community and Odoo Enterprise, version 19.0 — self-hosted or on Odoo.sh. Odoo Online, the hosted SaaS edition, does not accept apps from the store, so no third-party module can run there.
Which other modules does it require?
It requires base, eq_account, sale. Odoo resolves and installs these dependencies itself when you install the module.
Under which license is the module published?
The module is published under the LGPL-3 open-source license.
Will it keep working after an Odoo update?
Yes, within 19.0.x. A move to the next major Odoo version is delivered as a new module version.
