Quotations and orders, each with their own numbers.

Quotation Numbering

Quotations get their own number range with the SQ prefix, and the moment one is confirmed it receives a regular sale order number. The quotation number is not lost: it moves into the source document field, so the paper trail from offer to order stays readable. A switch per company decides whether the separation applies at all.

The help for this module is findable — for people and for AI

One help page in German and English, shipped inside the module. With Help Docs installed you search them in full text — and an AI assistant reads the same content through a machine-readable module card.

Quotation and Order Numbering
This module gives quotations their own number range. On confirmation a quotation is renamed to a sale order number regardless of what it was called before, and the previous quotation number is not lost — it moves into the Source / Origin field. Example: A quotation has the name "A00042" (custom prefix). Confirming it still assigns a new order number from the "Sale Order" …
An assistant asks
eq.helper.doc.get_capability_card(
  "eq_sale_quotation_number")
Returns the models, fields, methods and permission rules of Quotation Numbering in a form an assistant can act on — instead of guessing them from screenshots.
“When does a quotation change its number?” — answered from the module card, not from training data.

Full-text search and module card come from Help Docs (eq_helper). This module ships the content — no extra configuration.

Features

Two number ranges, one document

A new quotation draws from the SQ sequence. On confirmation the same record is renumbered from the sale order sequence, and the quotation number is written to the source document field instead of being overwritten.

No prefix required

A quotation numbered by hand or carried over from a previous system is renumbered on confirmation just the same. This is where the module departs from the community original, which only touched numbers that already carried the SQ prefix.

Decided per company

The Sales settings carry a switch for shared numbering. While it is on, the module stays completely inert — no SQ numbers, no renumbering, no source document entry. In a multi-company database each company chooses for itself.

Duplicates keep their trail

Duplicating a quotation records the number it came from, so a chain of revised offers can be read back later.
