Context-aware, not a table of contents
The viewer knows which model and which screen you are on and opens the matching page. The step that usually loses people — finding the right chapter — does not occur.
Modules ship their own help
Each module carries a folder of help pages describing which screens they belong to. The viewer discovers them at runtime, so adding help to a module means adding text files — not changing the help system.
Your own pages, written by your own people
Customers add their own help in the database: write text with screenshots, bind a page to a module or screen, and release it through a draft-to-published workflow with version history. Whole sets can be exported and imported as a self-contained package.
Search, contents and in-page anchors
Full-text search across all pages, a navigable table of contents and jump anchors within a page — so a long instruction stays usable rather than becoming a wall of text.
The question mark on a settings block leads inward
Odoo normally links that icon to an external website. It can instead open the internal help page for exactly that setting — the answer stays inside the system the user is already in.
Safe rendering
Page content is sanitised before it is displayed, so help pages written by users cannot smuggle active content into the backend.
See where the help is — and where it is missing
A map of every help page. Two pages joined by a line document the same Odoo screen, so a user standing on the contact form can see at a glance what else explains it. The map also shows what no list does: pages bound to no screen, which only a search will ever surface, and installed modules that ship no help at all.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do we have to write all the help ourselves?
No. The ownERP modules ship their own help pages in German and English. Your own pages are an addition for company-specific procedures, not a prerequisite.
Can our own module plug into it?
Yes. A module supplies a documentation folder describing its help pages and which screens they belong to; the viewer picks them up at runtime. The integration contract is documented with the module.
Which Odoo editions are supported?
The module runs on Odoo Community and Odoo Enterprise, version 19.0 — self-hosted or on Odoo.sh. Odoo Online, the hosted SaaS edition, does not accept apps from the store, so no third-party module can run there.
Which other modules does it require?
It requires base, web, mail, eq_web_markdown. Odoo resolves and installs these dependencies itself when you install the module.
Under which license is the module published?
The module is published under the LGPL-3 open-source license.
Will it keep working after an Odoo update?
Yes, within 19.0.x. A move to the next major Odoo version is delivered as a new module version.
