Language Switcher
Change the interface language from the top bar — not from the settings.
Switching the backend language in Odoo means opening your user preferences, changing a field and saving. That is three clicks too many for anyone who works in two languages every day. This module puts a globe icon in the systray: click it, pick a language, done. It applies to the logged-in user only and leaves everyone else alone.
The help for this module is findable — for people and for AI
One help page in German and English, shipped inside the module. With Help Docs installed you search them in full text — and an AI assistant reads the same content through a machine-readable module card.
"eq_language_switcher")
Full-text search and module card come from Help Docs (eq_helper). This module ships the content — no extra configuration.
Features
One click in the systray
The globe icon sits next to the other systray items and is available on every screen. No detour through the settings, no interrupted workflow.
Only the languages you actually installed
The list is built from the languages active in your system. Nobody can switch to a language that is not translated, which is how you avoid a half-English interface.
Per user, and it sticks
The choice is stored on the user account, so it survives logging out and follows you to another browser or machine. Colleagues are unaffected.
No routes of its own
The module deliberately adds no HTTP endpoints. It reads the installed languages and writes the user's language through Odoo's standard mechanisms — nothing new is exposed to the network.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it change the language for everyone?
No. Only the logged-in user's own language changes. It is the same setting as in the user preferences, just reachable in one click.
How do I add another language to the list?
Install it in Odoo the usual way (Settings → Translations → Languages). It appears in the switcher immediately — the module keeps no list of its own.
Which Odoo editions are supported?
The module runs on Odoo Community and Odoo Enterprise, version 19.0 — self-hosted or on Odoo.sh. Odoo Online, the hosted SaaS edition, does not accept apps from the store, so no third-party module can run there.
Which other modules does it require?
It requires web. Odoo resolves and installs these dependencies itself when you install the module.
Under which license is the module published?
The module is published under the LGPL-3 open-source license.
Will it keep working after an Odoo update?
Yes, within 19.0.x. A move to the next major Odoo version is delivered as a new module version.
