ERP Cloud Computing

What is the cloud?

Hardware and software no longer have to be purchased and operated by the customer. IT in many areas can now also be rented. The data and applications are no longer located on the local computer of your company, but the ERP in the cloud. This means that you rent a service in a remote data center and someone operates the service for you there. However, this does not mean that the data is not secure in the network, even though many users and decision-makers often still think so, so that everyone has access to it. It simply means that your data is no longer stored directly on your premises, but is kept off-site. Of course you always have access to your data. The advantages of the cloud solution are more flexibility, scalability and significantly lower costs, since a separate server structure is no longer required.

Even in your private environment there are certainly some examples where you (perhaps unconsciously) use a cloud service. For example, do you have a Dropbox account? Then you use a Cloud Service.  Do you own an Apple device? Then you probably have the iCloud in use. This is also a cloud service. Even the software giant Adobe only offers its Creative Suite products, such as Photoshop or InDesign, on a rental basis as a Creative Cloud, as the trend is moving away from purchased software to cloud offers. So there are cloud services with costs as well as free ones. The

However, when choosing your cloud provider, be careful to ensure that all relevant security requirements are met. By the way, Germany has the strictest security regulations in the world, which is why many companies choose a cloud "Made in Germany", such as ownERP.

Cloud Typen and Software as a Service

Cloud computing distinguishes between three different types of cloud: Infrastructure as a service, Platform as a service and Software as a service. These are differentiated according to the depth of outsourcing.

SaaS is by all means the most comprehensive cloud service model, which can range from the outsourcing of a single application to the outsourcing of the entire corporate IT. Here, the applications and data are in the cloud and are thus completely outsourced on the cloud provider's servers. The user rents the software from the Internet as "software on demand" as required and only pays for the modules actually used. This makes it very cost-effective for the user, which means that this is the most frequently used software module. The offer of SaaS solutions from the cloud ranges from office solutions to complete business software for CRM and ERP as ownERP is.

Why the cloud?

  • Updates are usually included in the scope of delivery and do not require any further time

  • Significantly lower costs for IT resources, since the storage & backup of data is in the cloud

  • Mostly very secure due to high security standards especially in German data centers

  • Independent of location

  • Package prices - booked software can be scaled individually according to specific requirements

 Software Hosted in Germany

Software Hosted in Germany

The Software Hosted in Germanyseal is aimed at software manufacturers who offer usable solutions via the Internet.

It distinguishes particularly secure software that can be used via the Internet. The software and the data are hosted in a computer centre in Germany, the software and the data do not leave Germany, and German law applies to the hosting contract.
